Fine Art Pigment Prints
Fine Art Pigment Prints
Printing my photos on a beautiful paper is the ultimate goal for my photography. I like to experiment with different papers and framing.
The fine art prints are printed on Epson SC 7500 printer using Espon Ultrachrome HDX high longevity pigment inks. This printer can print 60 cm wide and with variable length using roll papers. For larger prints I use external print studios.
I use a number of different fine art papers depending on the images. The papers I work most with for the moment are;
Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 g/m²
This paper is a white 100% cotton rag. This acid- and lignin-free paper meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance and is specially designed for FineArt applications. The white cotton artist’s paper, with a characteristic rather smooth surface structure and soft feel. The paper is ideal for archival printing of both colour and black photographs.
Hahnemühle Museum Etching 350 g/m²
Hahnemühle Museum Etching is a natural white cotton art paper with an inkjet coating specially optimised for FineArt printing. This heavyweight textured paper does not contain optical brighteners and is characterised by its high stability. The finely textured surface with fine felt structure lends FineArt prints added depth and a three-dimensional effect. Combined with the pure cotton base, this creates a wonderfully soft tactile feel and artistic impression. The premium matt inkjet coating produces excellent print results. Colours are wonderfully vivid, the depth of the black truly stands out and details are reproduced perfectly. The acid- and lignin-free Museum Etching meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance and is ideal for reproducing photographs.
Hahnemühle German Etching 310 g/m²
Hahnemühle German Etching is a traditional mould-made copperplate printing paper, complete with an inkjet coating designed especially for fineart applications. The white art paper made from 100% alpha cellulose is characterised by its extraordinary velvety tactile feel and its fine, clearly defined felt structure. The unique surface texture adds a very special touch to images, showcasing them in all their splendour with impressive three-dimensional effect and depth. German Etching is acid- and lignin-free and meets the most exacting requirements in terms of age resistance. This heavyweight FineArt inkjet paper is one of the most popular paper for FineArt prints thanks to its characteristic tactile feel and surface texture.
Awagami Bamboo - japanese paper - 250g/m²
For 300 years, Awagami has been making paper in Tokushima Japan and recently developed 'Awagami Inkjet Paper' (A.I.J.P) as a completely unique paper line for the inkjet world. Each sheet has a truly handmade look and feel and made from renewable, neutral pH and completely eco-friendly materials such as as Kozo (mulberry), Bamboo and Hemp. The paper has museum-quality and archival permanence. Made with a more subtle coating than other inkjet papers, images printed on this paper will unite with the paper itself creating a singular work of art. I use this paper for some of my brighter woodland photography.
